Walker Wealth Strategies’ President and Chief Executive Officer, Craig Walker, founded the company in 1997. Craig has a long track record of successful financial planning and diversified investment strategies for a wide variety of clients including business owners, physicians, corporations, foundations, and individuals.
Craig earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Irvine. He has completed the Investment Management Analyst program at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and holds a certificate in Financial Planning from Kaplan University. He also is a Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor.
Craig has over 34 years of senior level experience at some of Wall Street's largest brokerage firms. Craig's investment discipline focuses on scrupulous risk analysis, asset allocation, and individual security selection. Prior to founding his firm, Craig was Vice President, Senior Quantum Portfolio Manager of Prudential Securities. He managed discretionary equity accounts for corporations, foundations, and high net worth individuals. He was elected to serve as a member of the investment committee responsible for a $1 billion in-house managed account program. In addition, he provided investment management consulting services. Prior to that he was a Vice President of Smith Barney.
Craig, with his wife Leesa, lives in the Sunny Hills neighborhood in Fullerton, California. Craig's hobbies include reading, running, sailing, diving, golfing, flying, and driving race cars. Before deciding to focus on raising the children, Leesa was an airborne news and traffic reporter for KFWB radio in Los Angeles, where she won two Golden Mic awards for her live news coverage of the LA Riots and the OJ Simpson chase. Craig’s twins Will and Sarah graduated from Duke University in North Carolina. Will now works as a Platform Manager at a tech company in New York City, while Sarah attends Yale Law School.
Dawn Bowman recently celebrated 21 years of dedicated service at Walker Wealth Strategies. She began her career at the company after receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Business with an emphasis in Finance from California State University, Long Beach. Her genuine commitment to excellence and trusted financial acumen is highly regarded by our valued clientele. Utilizing her Series 65 licensing, she works closely with Craig in all aspects of the wealth management planning process, while overseeing all operational activities. In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband Cory, daughter Isabella (9), and son Nathaniel (6) at every fair, theme park, waterpark, and petting zoo in southern California.
Carolynn Cox joined Walker Wealth Strategies in 2016 after several years of experience in accounting and operational roles in the insurance industry. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in French from the University of Redlands in 2011. In 2018, Carolynn earned an MBA in Financial Planning from California Lutheran University. Carolynn is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and a member of the Financial Planning Association. In her spare time, Carolynn enjoys spending time with her husband and son cheering on their favorite sports teams, taking walks to the park, and cooking gluten-free recipes.
Sokny Vasquez joined Walker Wealth Strategies in 2017 after several years in the healthcare industry. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from California State University of Fullerton. In 2018, Sokny attended Kaplan's Wealth Management SpecialistSM Professional Designation Program and was awarded the certificate of completion. In her leisure time, Sokny enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends. She also likes practicing yoga, going to the movies, and attending music concerts.
Sharon Garate joined Walker Wealth Strategies after many years with Wells Fargo as a Fiduciary Administrator. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from California State University Fullerton and has been in the financial/banking industry for over 20 years. During that time, she worked in different areas of the bank, but most recently focused on Trust and IRA administration. She also earned her Certified IRA Services Professional (CISP) designation from the American Bankers Association.
Sharon is an active volunteer in her community. From 2011-2013, she served first as Parent Board Member and eventually as the CFO for a Charter School in Long Beach. She currently serves on the board for several non-profit groups and was recently appointed to be on the Parks and Recreation Commission for her city.
In her leisure time, Sharon enjoys spending time with her husband and children. On the weekends, she can be seen wearing her team mom hat, while cheering her children on during their various sports activities. She also enjoys crafting, repurposing old furniture and playing on her adult kickball team.
